International Space Station (ISS)
Facts About ISS (International Space Station):
The ISS was taken up to space piece by piece and circles the globe every 90 minutes. The ISS weighs almost 1 million pounds. The ISS biggest engineering and scientific object brought into space by humans. The orbiting space station orbits Earth about 248 miles above Earth’s surface. The ISS will be a about the size of a five bedroom house. The station is solar powered by the solar panels on on the wings. Most of the energy/electricity comes from the huge solar wings. There is eight miles of wire that connects the power system. Astronauts usually stay four to six months at a time.
