Satellites
What is a satellite
A satellite is a machine, planet or a moon that orbits another star or planet.
Examples:
The earth is a satellite because it orbits the sun. The moon is a satellite because it orbits the earth.
Most people think of a satellite as a machine launched into space (and it is).
Earth and the moon are examples of natural satellite. Satellites orbit Earth and take pictures of Earth and that helps meteorologists predict the weather. Some take pictures of the sun, planets, and black holes.
Why are satellites important?
Satellites tell us the weather. They help set up long distance stuff like phone lines. They are so far up they can see better and take better pictures.
