Venus
Facts and History you Probably Didn't Know About the Planet
Venus is mainly made up of volcanic lands and valleys of lava flowing from volcanoes. Venus also has no life or water due to its hot surface. The surface is hot and desert-like. The planet is close to having the similar size as earth, but not the same traits. The picture above is the surface of Venus. In the late 1900's, Land Rovers were launched into space from Japan, United States, and Russia but failed to land. In 2016 Japan claimed that they were going to launch a satellite to orbit the planet to record and take photos.
Venus is one of the 4 terrestrial planets such as Mercury, Earth, and Mars. Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system even though Mercury is the closest planet to the sun. Its atmosphere is so thick there would be 93 times the pressure that you would experience at sea level. Since Venus’s Atmosphere is thick, it traps most incoming heat from the sun which is called the greenhouse effect. The clouds on Venus cover the surface from being seen from orbit. The clouds aren’t made like other planets; Venus’s clouds are made from sulfuric acid that drops acid droplets of acid rain.

Venus is the brightest planet viewed from earth. The reason Venus is so bright is because the clouds reflect sunlight. Scientist think that there was water on Venus before the sun went into a advance stage that emitted more solar energy.
Maat Mons is a shield volcano that is 5.0 miles on the surface of Venus. This volcano was named after the Egyptian goddess of truth and justice. Venus's name also came from a Greek goddess of love and beauty.
